Lilly's comments

Tonight Lilly threw a not soft toy at me and here's our conversation:

Me: Lilly, that wasn't nice. What do you say?
Lilly: Thank you.
Me: no, what do you say when you throw toys?
Lilly: No whining.

It was pretty funny. I guess I've been saying "no whining" a lot to her lately.

Lilly turns 2!!!

Yeah for Lilly! She turned 2 yesterday! Pete was at a golf tournament, so Lilly and I went to the zoo and then the park. We had her birthday party today. Lilly had a great time at the party. Her favorite part was drinking like 8 glasses of lemonade. She also liked eating all the candy decorations and the frosting on the cupcakes. There are no pictures of presents since Lilly only got to open two. She was so tired and way over stimulated by the end of the party. I'll post more pictures whenever she gets around to opening presents!

Lilly brushing the goats (she likes this area of the zoo the best...we stayed here for at least 20 minutes yesterday)

The sprinkler!

Lilly decided that she likes the sprinkler recently (she usually does not like these and will cross the street if we're on a walk so that she doesn't have to be near one). She thinks she can turn it on by hitting it (even though Pete is turning it on and off for her) and she laughs when it sprays her in the face.

Funny sayings...

Lilly, like all almost-2 year olds, has some pretty funny things that she says. For instance, she recently has started saying bye, love you when saying goodbye to someone. We were visiting with her friend, Troy, and when leaving, she said, Bye Troy, Love you Troy! She's carried this over to inanimate objects- tonight she was playing with her play food and she put a cookie into a container and said "bye cookie, love you cookie." She also can, thanks to Pete, name several Notre Dame football players and some Cubs. My favorite is Kosuke Fukudome (in Lilly speech: "kos-ke kukudodeh").

Another funny Lilly saying is "mommy do this." She uses this phrase quite frequently when she's frustrated or just wants me to do something for her. It's only funny when Pete says "Mommy do this" and Lilly immediately says, "No Mommy do this. Yes Mommy do this." She disagrees with Pete without thinking about what he is saying. She also has started warning herself if she's doing something more difficult...climbing onto the couch, trying to get on her bike, etc. She'll say "care-tu yi-yi" (interpretation: careful, Lilly) as she's climbing. She even uses the correct inflection - imitating me and Pete when we say it.

Name that tune

Ga ga dat tee
hadda edy yul
yes-ah yes-ah
tee da cull

yi-yi, co-gi
ca-cull, do-di
ashes, ashes (she really says it this way!)
down

These are two of Lilly's favorite songs to sing. She also enjoys singing The Wheels on the Bus (we have to listen to this song over and over and over in the car...I'd like to add some verses about the driver crashing the bus so the song will stop, but that probably wouldn't be good parenting), the Mickey Mouse Club Theme Song (she does a great donald duck impersonation) and Sunny Days (thanks to Molly in Texas!!). For Sunny Days, she only knows the first two words, so the whole song is "sunny days, sunny days, sunny days."

July pictures

Here are some fun July pictures of Lilly...
